    Cognitive and Dialetical Behavioral Therapy

    Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT is a short-term, problem-focused form of behavioral treatment that helps people see the difference between beliefs, thoughts, and feelings, and free them from unhelpful patterns of behavior.

    Dialetical Behavioral Therapy or DBT is also a problem focused form of behavioral treatment that teaches people how to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulates emotions and improve interpersonal relationships.  

    CBT is grounded in the belief that it is a person’s perception of events – rather than the events themselves – that determines how he or she will feel and act in response.

    DBT is grounded in learning skills that are foundational in helping a person move forward in acceptance of their situations and understanding how to change their responses to life situations.
